Welcome back, students. The new Winter 2019 semester is here and to help students get settled in on campus, Grand Rapids Community College has planned a number of events to get students off on the right foot.
The most important event on campus during the first week of school is the RaiderCard pickup. Over the winter break, GRCC administrators have been working to roll out new RaiderCards for students, faculty and staff featuring a new look. The new cards are still available for pick up Jan. 7 and 8 in the Raider Grille from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students who have not picked up their cards after Jan. 8 can still get a new one at the Student Life office.
Students can use their financial aid to buy textbooks or other school supplies until Jan. 25 at the bookstore. From Jan. 7 through Jan. 10, the store has extended its hours during the first week of the semester for students. The bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11. The bookstore’s regular hours are Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays.
Homecoming Week will replace Welcome Week this semester. GRCC’s Student Life and Conduct staff have planned events through the entire week beginning with Involvement Day and the opening of the newly renovated Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse Rededication Ceremony starting the week of Monday, Jan. 14.
A showing of the movie “Finding Dory” in the new fieldhouse is scheduled for Tuesday followed by vintage arcade games on Wednesday, a pep rally on Thursday and tailgating and basketball games ending the week on Friday. For a list of all the event times and locations, click the link above.
