Grand Rapids Community College’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) is hosting its annual Valentine’s Day with CAB event on Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Raider Grille.
This event will include free activities and food for GRCC students. Students will be able to receive henna tattoos from a professional artist, design and create a personalized leather keychain, and stuff a teddy bear that will be donated to the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and other charities. Roses will also be available for purchase during the event for anyone in need of a last-minute Valentine’s Day gift. The only requirement to engage in the activities and free food is to swipe in using a RaiderCard.
This year, CAB made it possible for students to donate a gift to local children in hospitals. CAB President Tina Poulias explained the organization’s decision to make the donations happen.
“One location we are donating the bears built by GRCC students includes Ronald McDonald House,” Poulias said. “This year help share a little love and happiness with children who are away from home and staying in hospitals for another holiday.”
Ronald McDonald House along with other organizations caters toward parents of children who have been in hospitals for long periods of time. Stuffing a teddy bear is a way for students to give back to the community.
