The Grand Rapids Community College women’s basketball team was in action Wednesday night against the Lake Michigan College Red Hawks in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

The Raiders were coming off of a rough 52-28 loss on Monday night at the hands of the 19th ranked Mid Michigan College Lakers. The Raiders hoped to turn it around on Wednesday, but a turn around wasn’t to be as they fell to the Red Hawks 62-45.

Head coach Dave Glazier talked about the team’s performance after the game and said the team’s shortcomings boiled down to one thing.

“Too many second, third and fourth chances,” Glazier said. “At the end of the night, our inability to keep them off the offensive glass did us in.”

Despite Glazier’s unhappiness with being outrebounded, Emily Pendred did manage to have another double digit rebounding night snagging 10 boards in the loss. Rayven Mondy was the leading scorer for the Raiders with 22 points and going 5-for-9 from three-point range.

The Raiders have now suffered back-to-back 20+ point losses after a four-game win streak. The loss drops them back below .500 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference with a record of 7-8.

The Raiders will try to get off the schneid on Saturday, Feb. 23 when they host the Ancilla College Chargers at the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse at 1 p.m.
