The Japanese Animation, Film and Art eXpo (JAFAX) will be held at the Devos Place Convention Center from Friday, June 7, to Sunday, June 9. The event begins at 1 p.m. Friday.

JAFAX has been held every year since 1996 and is inspired by Japanese visual culture. This convention includes cosplay contests, discussion panels, gaming, special guests and more. Guests include voice actors like Steve Blum from “Naruto”, Cherami Leigh from “Call of Duty: WW2”, Jamie Marchi from “Witchblade”, and more. They have worked on projects like animated “X-Men” movies, the “Spectacular Spiderman” series, “Fullmetal Alchemist” and so much more.

There will also be games available in the DeVos Place Ballroom D. Follow this link for days, times and even a full gaming guidebook. Kent District Library has also donated volumes of manga for attendees to enjoy. Anime screening rooms are also open.

Anime Music Videos (AMVs) will be shown as well, one will be on Saturday and another on Sunday. The AMVs will be judged by three judges, two of which are AMV creators. There will also be an Audience Choice award on Saturday.

Taiko drummers will also be filling the convention with music. And traditional Aikido and Iaido demonstrations from the Kyouseikan Dojo will also be shown.

There will be many vendors as well, selling a wide array of materials. Click here for the vendor layout.

Tickets range from $20 to $50, depending on what day you are attending. Follow this link to purchase tickets.
