A prospective student was tased and taken into custody by campus police after a disruption that occurred in the Grand Rapids Community College Enrollment Center in Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall, formerly the Main Building Monday morning.
“The man entered the center seeking services around 11:15 a.m., caused a disturbance, then refused to leave when asked,” stated GRCC Communications Director Dave Murray in an email detailing the incident. “campus police were called and promptly responded. The man refused to leave, and officers attempted to place him under arrest. He remained uncooperative, resisted and struck the officers, who deployed their tasers in an effort to subdue him.”
The man was subsequently taken into custody with the assistance of Grand Rapids Police. Two members of Campus Police sought medical treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.
