The Grand Rapids Community College Women’s Volleyball beat Kellogg Community College three sets to none last Thursday, September 12th. They won their sets 25-13, 25-21, 25-21.
The Raiders dominated the game finishing with five players getting double digit kills.
Sophomore Jamie Wellet spoke on their mentality heading into the game and how they played so well.
“…We were pretty solid with our passing, which is very important when you’re trying to run your system,” she said. “…for the most part we had good control over the game and it was pretty solid and we were all working and just trying to make each other better on the court.”
Freshman hitter Annie Holsinger had a team high 21 kills, Sophomore hitter Dani Johnston finished second with 19 kills. Johnston also led the team with eight aces, followed by freshman setter Jamie Rozell and Wellet who each had six.
The Raiders are now 9-3 overall and ranked ninth in the nation. They will face Lake Michigan College at home at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse.
