The Grand Rapids Community College Women’s Volleyball team extend their win streak again with a victory over Ancilla College on September 19th. They beat Ancilla three sets to none with sets being 25-10, 25-22, 25-13.
Annie Holsinger led the team with 13 kills and Kailey Carmean led the team with 14 assists.
The team has been playing well, leading to an undefeated streak of six games.
Sophomore Jasmine Wellet spoke on their mindset heading into the game and how they were playing with the pressure of a win streak.
“Going into the game, I would say we had the mindset of making sure we executed our jobs and minor details,” she said. “I think our short serving really got us going on runs against them… With this win streak, I think we have to make sure we don’t take anyone easy. We can get relaxed and assume we can just win and go through the motions. But next week we play Glen Oaks, (who) are also undefeated in the conference, so we just have to train hard and give our all.”
While the Raiders got the win against Ancilla, they lost a player to injury when freshman Gabi Kitley landed on an opposing player who was under the net and sprained her ankle.
The Raiders are now 11-3 overall and 6-0 in conference. Their next game will be against Jackson College at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 24 in Summit Township.
