Grand Rapids Community College hosted another phenomenal International Guitar Series Nov. 14  – this time featuring classical guitarist Evan Taucher.

The nearly full Albert P. Smith Music Center played host to a crowd that seemed to enjoy Taucher, as audience members applauded after each song he performed.

The guitarist recently studied abroad in Spain for seven months and the majority of the songs he performed were pieces that he learned while he was abroad.  The audience requested an encore, and Taucher continued and played one last song called “Feliz” which seemed to make the audience happy.

Audience member Terry Marshall, a regular Guitar Series attendee, mentioned that she is “on the email list for the series” and has enjoyed all the shows that she has attended. When asked if she enjoyed Taucher’s performance Marshall said, “Of course, he’s a great musician. I enjoyed his energy and his music.”

While he played, you could see how immersed in each song he was. Taucher said he has been performing classical guitar almost immediately after he had begun playing.

“That was a key part in getting developed…  performing for, you know, even small little things for friends and family”.

Taucher said what he enjoys most about performing is “holding onto the audience’s ears for as long as possible and feeling like I’m in control of everyone’s emotions for the time being.”

Taucher’s performance was one to remember and one to savor until the next concert in the Guitar Series which is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 27, 2020.
