The Grand Rapids Community College women’s basketball team’s early-season struggles persisted against Calvin University JV. The Raiders couldn’t find their rhythm against the Knights with the team shooting 15.4% from behind the three-point line– 31.6% overall. The game, played on Dec. 6, resulted in a 64-59 loss for the Raiders.
Sophomore forward Bethany Chick lead the team in minutes (36) and finished with an astounding 18 points and 19 rebounds double-double. Chick was the only player for the Raiders that was able to reach double-digit points.
With a slow start in the first half, the Raiders hoped to improve their poor shooting performance during the second only to find themselves continuing their mistakes. Finishing with 13 turnovers, only two points during fastbreaks and a 17-point contribution from the bench, the Raiders were unable to use their size and length to their advantage to muster a win.
The Collegiate staff was unable to contact coach David Glazier for a comment.
The Raiders overall record stands at 2-7, and are hosting their next home game Jan. 4 at the Ford Fieldhouse against Lake Michigan College. The game will begin at 1 pm.
