Grand Rapids Community College will host this year’s NJCAA District basketball tournament on Mar. 3, 6-7. The Raiders successfully clinched a playoff berth in the Western Conference, as the women’s team finished fourth (14-15 overall) and the men’s sixth (15-14 overall) for the season. 

Mar. 3 will be the quarterfinals for both sides. The women’s times are listed as followed:

Game 1 – 6 – Ancilla College vs. 3 -Jackson College, 7 p.m.

Game 2 – 7 – Lansing CC vs. 2 – Mid Michigan College, 5:30 p.m.

Game 3 – 5 – Kellogg CC vs. 4 – Grand Rapids CC, 7 p.m.

The men’s teams playing times being:

Game 1 – 6 – Grand Rapids CC at 3 – Mid Michigan College, 7:30 p.m.

Game 2 – 7 – Kalamazoo Valley CC at 2 – Ancilla College, 7 p.m.

Game 3 – 5 – Lansing CC at 4 – Kellogg CC, 7 p.m.

 

Mar. 6 will consist of the semi-finals, with the game times for the men’s division being:

Game 4 – Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2, 1 p.m.

Game 5 – Winner of Game 3 vs. 1W – Muskegon CC, 3 p.m.

The women’s playing times:

Game 4 – Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2, 1 p.m.

Game 5 – Winner of Game 3 vs. 1 – Muskegon CC, 3 p.m.

 

Mar. 7 will be the championship game for both men’s and women’s, with the times being:

Women’s: Game 6 – Winner of Game 4 vs. Winner of Game 5, 12 p.m.

Men’s: Game 6 – Winner of Game 4 vs. Winner of Game 5, 5:30 p.m.

 

All games will be played at the Ford Fieldhouse (Gordon Hunsberger Arena). The champions for men’s and women’s divisions will advance to the NJCAA Division II National tournament that begins Mar. 17. More information regarding this week’s tournament for men’s and women’s teams can be found here. Admission for the public is $8 (free for any individual nine/under) and free for any individual with a GRCC student I.D. 

The games will also be broadcasted by GRCC Sports Network for those who can’t attend.
