The Grand Rapids Community College golf team secured their fifth consecutive win at the Muskegon Community College Invitational on Monday, April 26, beating the Jayhawks by 13-strokes, and clinching the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference title.

“This was a historic season,” said David Selmon, GRCC’s Interim Athletic Director, in a press release. “GRCC student-athletes worked hard, were prepared and dominated this season. They earned these honors. My congratulations to them as well as coach John Forton and our Athletic Department staff on a job well done.”

Once again at the end of the day, in what was the last conference match of the year, the leaderboard was stacked with Raiders, as the team had all six golfers place in the top nine.

GRCC was led by redshirt-freshman Tyler Hausserman, finishing first-overall, for the third consecutive match, with a score of 73 (+1). The Raiders also received contributions from freshman Arie Jackman, who tied for third place, posting a score of 77 (+5), freshman Davis Courtright, fifth place, with a score of 78 (+6), redshirt-freshman Dominic Luciani, sixth place, posting an 80 (+8), redshirt-freshman Logan Templeton, seventh place, with a score of 81 (+9) and redshirt-freshman Matthew DenHartigh, who tied for ninth place, with a score of 84 (+12).

Prior to the Raiders’ next contest, the MCCAA revealed the 2021 All-Conference team with GRCC locking down five of the six spots on this year’s team.

Jackman finished the conference schedule with a score of 379 strokes, to lead all golfers in the conference, Luciani finished with 384, Hausserman finished with 389, Templeton with 397 and Courtright with 401.

The Raiders will look to maintain their undefeated record as they wrap up the regular season on Friday, April 30, at 10 a.m. when they head to Grayling, for the Kirtland Community College Invitational.
