The sixth annual Grand Rapids Community College baseball golf outing is set to take place on Aug. 15, at 1 p.m. at Scott Lake Golf Course in Comstock Park.

The cost of the event will be $100 per person or $400 per group. This will include 18 holes, entry into the skin game, golf cart, driving range, two drink tickets, t-shirts and a meal.

All proceeds will go to student athlete scholarships, which are a key to the success of the baseball team and all GRCC athletics.

“GRCC baseball has had an annual golf outing for years,” said Mike Eddington, GRCC’s head baseball coach. “(The) purpose is for former Raider players & Raider fans to get together and have a good time spending their day at the golf course and also to raise money for our program.”

There will also be sponsorship opportunities at each hole, and the baseball team is taking donations for raffle prizes.

The outing will be in honor of Tom Hofmann, who was involved in GRCC Athletics for more than 25 years as the head baseball coach along with working as an instructor and head of the wellness department at GRCC. Hoffman led GRCC baseball to almost 700 wins and five national tournament appearances during his career. He was inducted into the Community College Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998 and the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.

The last day to register for the event is Friday, Aug. 6. To register for the outing, contact Coach Mike Eddington at meddington@comcast.net or by phone at (616) 450-9905.
