The Grand Rapids Community College Student Alliance currently has an open position for the communications director.
The Student Alliance represents the student body serving as the link between students and the college administration. They also keep the GRCC population updated on policy changes.
The role of communications director serves as the main form of communication between the student body and the Student Alliance regarding official Student Alliance business. The responsibilities of the Student Alliance communications director include:
- Creating meeting agendas
- Note-taking during all meetings
- Record keeping of Student Alliance business
- Posting records no later than three days following a meeting
- Managing all Student Alliance social media accounts in compliance with GRCC policy
- Keeping time during all meetings
- Promoting Student Alliance events
- Keeping track of member attendance
- Being able to complete five office hours a week
In order to qualify for the position, students must have and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher and be enrolled in six or more credits for both the fall and winter semesters. Individuals looking to apply for the position must also be available from 2:00-3:30 p.m. every Thursday afternoon.
Qualified candidates may fill out an application on Raider Connect. There, you will find a link to a list of application questions. Those applying must complete the application questions on their own document, and upload the file onto the Raider Connect page, along with a resume. On the page itself, applicants must give their name, email, position you’re applying for, GRCC major, number of credits you’re taking, and the contact information of two professional references. Applicants must then participate in an interview run by a panel consisting of Student Alliance President Brendan Burke, as well as Lina Blair and Ashley Fox, both of whom are advisors.
