The Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) is doing a sock and underwear drive with Matthews House Ministries to collect donations to give to unhoused people.
“It’s all about giving back,” said member Harrison DiCocco said. “At SOTA, our goals are to spread awareness about occupational therapy as a profession and make an impact in our community. This drive is going to help keep our neighbors without homes warm and clothed for the coming winter.”
The undergarment and sock drive goes from Oct. 10 to Nov. 21. Boxes for donations will be in the Student Center as well as on the first floor of Sneden Hall. There is also an Amazon list of highly requested items.
Membership in SOTA is for second year occupational therapy students. SOTA members create projects to raise awareness of occupational therapy. As part of an upcoming project, the group plans to create a sensory hallway in a local elementary school.
