Hit and run reported at Bostwick Ave

On Wednesday, July 3 an officer was at College Park Plaza for an open door on the second floor when they made contact with a woman who asked if she should report damage to her vehicle. The officer advised her that she should. The woman went on to state that she had parked her red 2003 Buick in the Bostwick Avenue parking ramp A at 7:15 a.m. on June 28 when she went to work at GRCC, when she returned around 12 p.m. she noticed damage to her vehicle. She said it was tough to open the driver’s side door and made a creaking noise as it opened. The front driver-side quarter panel had been dented causing the driver’s door to overlap over the quarter panel when opening the driver’s door. The woman was not present when the damage occurred and the damage was not there before. The officer observed the damage to the vehicle and took a photo of the damage, the officer also checked the campus cameras though there was no view of where the woman had her car parked.

On Monday, July 8 at 7:30 a.m. while on foot patrol in the Bostwick Avenue parking ramp on the GRCC campus, a GRCC Police officer ran into a facilities employee who told the officer about new graffiti on the roof of the Applied Technology Center. The graffiti was located on the southeast corner of the building and was bible from Fountain Street. There was existing graffiti in the same area but he told the officer this is new graffiti. It’s unclear what the graffiti depicted, but it was noticed by the employee that day around 7 a.m. The graffiti is painted in blue and looks to be two suns with the letters LA inside them. The estimated cost for repair is $200.

On Friday, July 12 at 7:16 a.m. an officer was dispatched to the GRCC’s Early Childhood Learning Laboratory on Lyon Street to investigate a complaint of a trespasser. Upon arriving, the officer located the man asleep on a bench to the north side of the building. The officer woke him and asked for identification. The man provided it and a background check showed no local warrants. The officer told the man he was trespassing and if he came back he could be arrested. The man then left.
