Student Government and the Center for Student Life and Leadership is inviting students to attend a celebration of early voting and Halloween. Trick-or-vote is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 12 – 2 p.m. at the third floor of the Student Center on Grand Rapids Community Colleges’ main campus.
Troy Inkornwong, the Communications Director of Student Government, says the goal for this event is to help students stay informed but also have fun.
“Getting people to become more informed about the voting process both early and on-time but also having fun in the process too, that’s why we make it Halloween themed,” he said.
Students can expect to learn about voting in the current election as well as how to vote early. Early voting started this past weekend in Michigan. Inkornwong thinks it’s important student’s know how to vote early.
“It’s more convenient,” he said. “…(early voters) have more of a flexible time than those who have to vote on election day.”
In the evening, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Ford Fieldhouse Gordon Hunsberger Arena, the party at the polls, trick-or-vote edition will take place.
The party will include free food, face painting and a DJ as well as a costume contest. Costumes are encouraged at both events but must be appropriate, meaning no realistic weapons or excessive skin showing.
