With Thanksgiving around the corner, The Collegiate went out and asked students around Grand Rapids Community College what they are thankful for.
Maria Luipa, 18, health and science major, from Grand Rapids, is thankful to be able to have the opportunity to go to college as being the first in her family, she is also thankful to have her friends and family members to support her, as well as her best friend, her dog Teddy.
“I’m thankful I can make a positive impact on myself and others,” Lupia said.
Jack Williams, 21, an education major from Grand Rapids, is looking forward to the delicious thanksgiving meal his family will prepare on Thanksgiving as well as being able to see all his family members again.
“My family means the most to me. I’m happy I get to spend Thanksgiving with them,” he said.
Likewise Amy Perez, a 19-year-old communications major from Grandville, is appreciative of the amazing people she surrounds herself with – not just her family and friends but God, as well.
“I’m grateful to have God by my side and I can’t wait to see his future plans for me,” Perez said, adding that she enjoys making memories with her family and friends and being appreciative of everything they give to her.
Lily Rodriguez,19, a general studies major from Grand Rapids, is grateful for all her loved ones and being able to enjoy another Thanksgiving with her son. She said she’s also appreciative to have a new home and beautiful surroundings.
“I have had struggles but I’m grateful God has been there for me to get through my tough days,” Rodriguiez said.
Hannah Caddel ,18, a psychology major, from Grand Rapids, is thankful for her sisters.
“My sisters mean everything to me. I’m grateful to have them,” she said. Waking up every morning is a blessing for Caddel, as well as having her parents, especially her mom who she looks up to. Having a home is a huge blessing for Caddel and is something she’s thankful for everyday.
Noah Anderson, a 20-year-old business major from Grand Rapids, is appreciative of his family.
“My family does a lot for me, especially supporting me with everything I do,” he said. Being able to get together with his family on Thanksgiving means a lot for Anderson.
“I am grateful for many things but I’m blessed to have a loving family,” Anderson said.
