President Donald Trump declared “major combat operations” against Iran on Feb. 28 with daytime strikes in a joint U.S.-Israel attack on military and government installations. This attack has been named “Operation Epic Fury.”
President Trump has stated that this attack’s main objective is to “defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.”
These threats include Iran’s nuclear weapons, which the White House claimed to have completely obliterated when the U.S. briefly joined Israel’s war against Iran back in June.
This strike has resulted in the death of 133 civilians and the injury of 200 more, according to the Human Rights Activists News Agency late Saturday.
Iran has placed the death toll at over 200 people and over 700 injured.
These attacks have resulted in the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as confirmed by President Trump on a social media post.
In response to the attack, Iran deployed its own missile attacks in Israel and on American infrastructure within the Middle East, with the majority of missiles being intercepted.
President Trump warned Iran not retaliate after the death of its leader, stating that if they do, “…WE WILL HIT THEM WITH A FORCE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE!”
Today, three U.S. service members have been killed and five more seriously injured, according to a post from CENTCOM on “X.”
Officials have been quick to point out that this attack has contradicted President Trump’s “no new wars” promise that he made, despite his prior claims of being the “peace president” and deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize.
“Donald Trump is dragging the United States into a war the American people do not want,” stated Democrat Kamala Harris in a post on “X”, “Let me be clear: I am opposed to a regime-change war in Iran, and our troops are being put in harm’s way for the sake of Trump’s war of choice.”
“Your administration gave over $100 billion to the Ayatollah, who kept killing Americans,” responded Republican Ted Cruz. “We know you’re sad that your friend isn’t with us any more.”
Iran has declared Jihad, or holy war, on the U.S. and Israel. The U.S. has yet to declare war as of now.
Nine protesters were killed in Pakistan when a crowd attempted to storm a U.S. consulate shouting “Death to Israel, Death to America!”
