Students will have the opportunity to get help with starting a professional LinkedIn profile in the upcoming LinkedIn 101 Workshop hosted by Grand Rapids Community College’s Center for Career and Professional Readiness.

The workshop will be on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in room 209 at the Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall. The event will cover how to get started on LinkedIn, why it’s important to utilize it, how to grow your profile, and strategies to succeed.

Wen Batzer, a Career Engagement Coordinator at GRCC, emphasized why students should go to this event.

“Students should attend the LinkedIn workshop so that they know how to utilize LinkedIn to present themselves professionally on the internet, look for jobs and internships through LinkedIn, and how to keep in contact with professionals and their resources once they have graduated from GRCC,” Batzer said.

If students are unable to attend this workshop, there will be another workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 11, that will cover the same content.

Students should also keep an eye on upcoming headshot drop-ins as well as two professional readiness workshops, a resume/cover letter workshop, and a job interview preparation workshop. More information about these events is available on Raider Connect.

“We want students to feel as prepared as they can for entering the workforce,” Batzer said to students. “This workshop is a small puzzle piece of professional readiness we want to offer students so they can feel empowered in their choices as they make their way through school and into the world!”
