Editor’s Update: Due to inclement weather, this event was cancelled by campus officials at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Grand Rapids Community College will play the film “Finding Dory” at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15 in the Ford Fieldhouse Natatorium as part of the college’s Homecoming Week events.

GRCC students are welcome to bring their families to enjoy the movie with them. The  sea-themed event will have a lifeguard present at all times to ensure the safety of everyone present.

Jocelyn Medina, the vice president of GRCC’s Campus Activities Board, stated in an email to The Collegiate,

“We just need a RaiderCard to swipe you in,” Medina said. “As long as you come with a student of Grand Rapids Community College (and they have a RaiderCard), then it is fine to bring whoever.”

In addition to the “Dive-in-Movie” being a free event, there will also be free food given to the guests. However, if students want, they are welcome to bring their own food and drinks as long as it is eaten away from the pool area. “The free giveaways will be available just for coming,” stated Medina.

Since the theme of this year’s GRCC homecoming is “Stepping Back in Time”, it is ideal to have a  throwback film to go along with it. “This is just a fun and out of the box event for Homecoming Week,” said Medina.

The free event will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
