Xavier Jara will be performing classical guitar today at 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Rapids Community College Albert P. Smith Music Building. Attendants can expect to be there for an hour to an hour and a half.
Jara is an American classical guitarist who has received first place in a number of international competitions. He studied in Paris for six years with Judicael Perroy, a French classical guitarist and teacher.
“Classical guitar is really awesome and I think it’s important to support the arts and listen to good music,” said Jonathan Marshall, an adjunct music instructor.
The performance is part of GRCC’s international guitar series, a program designed to showcase classical guitar performers from all around the world.
“When you see a great performance, it motivates you and makes you realize that to do anything great you need to work very hard,” Marshall said.
The cost is $15 for general admission or $10 for students and seniors. To purchase tickets or read about Xavier Jara, follow this link.
