After the success of the homecoming dance, the Campus Activities Board (CAB) has decided to host another dance this school year during the winter semester. The Enchanted Snowfall Dance will be free and held on Friday, Feb. 16, from 8-11 p.m.
The Snowy Northern Woods themed dance will be held off campus at Terra Square in Hudsonville and the dress code will be semi-formal to formal.
It will feature a live DJ with lights, a snow machine, a photo booth, winter-themed trees with lights, centerpieces provided by the art club and many other fun winter-themed decorations.
CAB is looking for volunteers to help with the setup for the dance. Setup will be on the day of the dance from 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you are interested, reach out to CAB Vice President of Recruitment and Retention, Destiny Stevens at destinystevens@grcc.edu.
Parking will be free at the venue and across the street. There will be parking signs directing students to the correct parking areas.
“There’ll be lots of parking,” Brayden Smith, President of CAB said. “Right now there should be a paved parking area right across from it (Terra Square) because there’s parking on the actual venue itself, but it’s very limited, and I doubt there’s going to be spaces available so I’m directing a lot of students to park across the street.”
Free bussing will be provided for students who decide they would like to go. There will be two party buses with executive seating and LED lighting provided by an outside company that will leave GRCC at 7:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., and leave the dance at 10:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. respectively.
CAB asks that anyone planning to take the buses have their RSVP in by Friday, Feb. 9 due to the bus company being a third party, requiring some paperwork, and all others planning to have it in by the day of the dance.
CAB added to the dance this semester that GRCC students are allowed to bring one non-GRCC student guest.
“With GRCC, it’s a community college, so it’s sometimes harder for students to make connections with other students.,” Smith said. “A lot of students will have their previous connections outside of school, so it seems like we get a larger turnout if we have students invite one other student that isn’t a GRCC student.”
The food for the dance is also free and will be an Italian buffet catered by Vitales’. This includes chicken parm, alfredo, salad, cupcakes, along with pop and water. Students will be provided with wristbands at the door and the dance will have chaperones. There is a bar next door to the venue and although the dance is an off-campus event all GRCC policies apply to the dance.
