Saturday, April 5, West Michigan residents will be participating in a national day of action protest at Rosa Park Circle in Grand Rapids hosted by the organization, Hands Off! The local march takes place from 12 to 2 p.m., with organizers calling on all students, workers and members of the community to show up and speak out.
Protestors aim to make Saturday’s event a targeted response to what they see as an increasingly hostile takeover by government officials and tech billionaires. The Hands Off! organization specifically calls out President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. With this in mind, protesters are aiming to tackle who’s controlling the future and whose voices are being silenced.
Hands Off! states on their website, “Across the country, thousands of people will march, rally, disrupt, and demand an end to this billionaire power grab. We’ll show up…anywhere we can make sure they hear us.”
Anyone planning to attend is encouraged to bring signs, stay peaceful and speak up. The group hopes to send a unified message that the public is watching and pushing back.
Beyond Grand Rapids, this campaign extends to cities all across the country, with thousands of people expected to show up. Times and locations may vary, but the common goal is unanimous. Organizers are aiming to make this march a profound mobilization of resistance against the Trump administration.
