There are a total of 16 events happening on the campus of Grand Rapids Community College in the week of Feb. 2 – 7, with events from Campus Activities Board, the Woodrick Center, Future Tech, and various other organizations. Read on to find out where to find free food and fun events on campus this week:
Monday, Feb. 2:
11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Bob and Alecia Woodrick Center for Inclusion and Multicultural Affairs is partnering with the Center for Career and Professional Readiness to host “NCN: Career Café: Resume & LinkedIn Series” in room 107 of Cook Hall. Students have the opportunity to learn about building an impressive resume and LinkedIn profile. Students can attend the event both in person and online. The link to join the Zoom meeting can be found on RaiderConnect. There will be free coffee and other items for students.
11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Bio-Medical Club is hosting Grand Valley State University advisers to talk to students about transferring from GRCC to GVSU. They will be meeting in the Applied Technology Center in room 219.
12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Center for Counseling and Well-Being is hosting “Getting Unstuck: Understanding Depression,” a workshop sharing information on identifying and managing depression at Raider Grill (room 205 of the Student Center). There will be free food.
1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Campus Activities Board will be “Vision Board Making at Lakeshore Campus,” located in the Lakeshore Atrium of the Lakeshore Campus in Holland. Collaging materials will be available for students.
5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Future Tech is hosting an information session of what resources the department has to offer. Students can attend the information session either in person or virtually in the Applied Technology Center, room 201, or via Zoom. The link to join the Zoom meeting can be found on RaiderConnect. RSVP is encouraged but not required for the event.
Tuesday, Feb. 3:
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Center for Counseling and Well-Being and Disability Support Services are hosting an open house in their office, room 368 of the Student Center. Stop by the office to meet the staff, learn about resources available, and eat snacks. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to make an appointment with the Center for Counseling and Well-Being and how to sign up for Disability Support Services assistance. Food will be provided for students.
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Center for Career and Professional Readiness is welcoming Truck and Trailer to talk about job opportunities at their company. There will be free items for students.
5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Future Tech is hosting “Networking 101: A Discussion with Brandon Hamilton” as a part of their Career Conversations series. Brandon Hamilton is the Program Coordinator at The Right Place, a Grand Rapids-based business support service. Students can attend the discussion both in person and online in the Applied Technology Center, room 231 or on Zoom. The Zoom link can be found on RaiderConnect.
Wednesday, Feb. 4:
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Center for Career Counseling and Professional Readiness is welcoming Hope Network, a Grand Rapids business, to talk about their job opportunities. Free items will be provided for students.
12 p.m. to 1 p.m. The Center for Career Counseling and Professional Readiness is partnering with Arbor Financial Credit Union to host “Budgeting in a Digital Era” in room 207 of RJF as part of their Financial Literacy event series. The event can also be attended online, with the code to join via Zoom on the event’s poster found on RaiderConnect. Free food will be provided to those in attendance.
5:30 p.m. GRCC Women’s Basketball is playing against Kellogg Community College at GRCC’s Ford Fieldhouse. The game will be livestreamed on GRCC Athletics’ YouTube channel. All GRCC students and staff are admitted to home contests for free with a valid RaiderCard.
6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Bob and Alecia Woodrick Center for Inclusion and Multicultural Events will be hosting “The 40th Annual MLK Celebration” at Wealthy Theater. The event will include artistic performances and various speakers honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. All are welcome to attend.
7:30 p.m. GRCC Men’s Basketball is playing against Kellogg Community College at GRCC’s Ford Fieldhouse. The game will be livestreamed on GRCC Athletics’ YouTube channel. All GRCC students and staff are admitted to home contests for free with a valid RaiderCard.
Friday, Feb. 6:
3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Raider Nation Gaming will be hosting their weekly meeting in room 218 of Cook Hall. Show up to play games of all sorts– from video games to board games– and hang out with fellow gamers.
