This Sunday, Sept. 27, the Wealthy Theatre will be hosting a Dolly Parton tribute event to honor her life and legacy. There will be a showing of “9 to 5” as well as a Dress Like Dolly” contest before the screening, where anyone can choose between team #TeamSparkle, #TeamCountry, or in any Dolly-style fashion.
Doors will open at 12 p.m., and the screening will begin at 1 p.m. Adult tickets start at $10, while senior, student, and veteran tickets start at $8. Tickets are $2 more at the door, so buy ahead if you want to save money and know you want to attend.
A portion of the ticket sales will also be going toward Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of West Michigan (Early Bird Books). They will also be in the lobby during the event if anyone wants to visit or learn more about them.
Early Bird Books is an affiliate of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and their mission is to spread access to books to young readers across West Michigan, as well as encouraging a love for reading at home.
Another opportunity to celebrate the life of Dolly Parton is at Robinette’s Apple Haus & Winery here in Grand Rapids. Planned before her death, the 6.5-acre corn maze features a cut path of a butterfly, guitar, music notes as well as her name and face. It’s available to visit throughout September and October, and entry is at 10 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon on Sundays. Tickets are $10.50 per person with free admission for children up to age 2. A portion of each sale will also be going toward Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of West Michigan.
