Tigers advance to World Series

The Detroit Tigers swept the New York Yankees in the post season for the first time in 32 years to advance to the World Series.

The addition of Prince Fielder this off-season and the Triple Crown bat of Miguel Cabrera created one of the most feared line-ups in baseball. Oh, and they have a guy by the name of Justin Verlander, arguably the best pitcher in baseball to top off the rotation. Even the trade deadline deal to get Omar Infante and Anibal Sanchez was key to the success of the Tigers this season.

The Tigers had to battle with  conference rival Chicago White Sox to make it to the post-season and won a remarkable series against the Oakland Athletics to advance to the ALCS to face the Yankees.

the Yankees. Delmon Young and former West Michigan Whitecap Avisail Garcia provided clutch RBI’s in crucial moments to help the Tigers advance.

At presstime, the Tigers were  awaiting the winner of the National League Championship Series between the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals. I hope the Tigers face the Giants; I feel it is a better matchup. But the opportunity to face the Cardinals to  exact revenge from the World Series in 2006 would be poetic justice.

It has been an incredible year for the Tigers. They have been tested all season long and continue to win.

I predict a World Series Championship for the Tigers.
