The Grand Rapids Community College women’s volleyball hosted their annual Raider Challenge, at the Ford Field House this past weekend. Thirteen college teams came from around the region to play against each other. Each team was given four games against four different teams.
The Raiders played well as they came out of the tournament undefeated 4-0.
On Saturday the Raiders’ first match was against Genessee Community College whom they beat 3-0, with scores of 25-16,25-8,25-14. During their next game the Raiders beat Lawrence Tech Blue Devils again 3-0, with scores of 25-9,25-8,25-8.
Then on Sunday, the Raiders came out with yet another close win against Moraine Valley Community College with a score of 3-1, with scores of 25-14,21-25,27-25,25-16.
The Raiders finally played St. Clair County Community College Sunday afternoon, in this last match of the the tournament the Raiders left it all on the court winning once again 3-0, with scores of 25-23,25-21,26-24.
The Raider Challenge proved to be well worth it for the GRCC Raider volleyball team, as team member Amanda Glaza pointed out, “This is the first tournament we have been to this year where we went undefeated all weekend, which was exciting!”
