KALAMAZOO, MI- The Grand Rapids Community College women’s volleyball team beat host Kalamazoo Valley Community College 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-15) on Tuesday.

GRCC started out a little excited and jittery in this conference rivalry,  trailing at one point in the first set 6-1.

“I was really proud of how we responded and just calmed down after that and realized hey it was just another game,” Coach Chip Will said. “We controlled the tempo the rest of the match on.

“It was good for us to be able to kind of lay the hammer down, and really know that  when we have a team down that we can stay on top of them and keep pushing,” he said. “Normally in athletics it is hard to really put a team away.”

Michelle Holland led the Raiders with 15 assists, four kills, and four digs.  Shelby Ruffner contributed with a team-high six kills.

The Raiders host Muskegon Community College at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Ford Fieldhouse.
