The Michigan Community College Athletic Association released their end of the season volleyball awards and Grand Rapids Community College was well represented, with six players capturing awards.
Three Raiders, Shelby Ruffner, Abbie Gortsema, and Rosalyn Wyse were named MCCAA first-team all-conference. Ruffner and Gortsema were also named all region.
Ruffner had the distinguished honor of being named MCCAA player of the year.
“Oh goodness, I was really excited to hear that, but I could not have done it without the team,” Ruffner said. “The team has made me be where I am as a player today and I want the team to get the national title.”
GRCC had three more players added to the MCCAA all-conference second-team, including Michelle Holland, Amanda Glaza and Dacey Cook.
Cook was also named to the all freshman team.
