Today one of two public hearings will be held to discuss the possibility of a raise in the price of The Rapid bus fare.
“We have not raised the fares in seven years,” said Jennifer Kalczuk, public relations contact for The Rapid.
The general bus fare will be increasing from $1.50 to $1.75, the 10-ride pass will be raised from $11.50 to $13.50 for adults or from $9 to $10.50 for students and the 31-day pass will increase from $40.00 to $47.00. The full list of price increases can be found on The Rapid website.
“We really need to look at all areas of revenue for the system so that we can continue to provide services that the community has come to rely on,” Kalczuk said.
The public hearing will be held at the Rapid Central Station in the second floor Community Conference Room at 7 p.m. today and at 7 a.m. Wednesday. Everyone is welcome to attend this public discussion on the proposed fare increase.
Updated at 11:15 a.m. to include student 10-ride pass increases.
