Fourteen artists make up the group “Heartside Art Collective,” and Jane “Fuzzy” VanDommelen, a 63-year-old Grand Rapids resident and credentialed ArtPrize Seven artist is a member.

Jane’s contribution to the entry and self-titled painting ‘Here comes the tornado’ is one in a series of weather-related paintings on display at the Heartside Gallery and Studio on south Division.

Heartside Ministries is a non-profit organization reaching out to people in need around the Grand Rapids community.  The Heartside Gallery and Studio opened 22 years ago in 1993 as an expansion of the program.

The mission of the gallery is to offer a safe and supportive environment to create, exhibit and sell. The online store offers Jane’s limited edition “Thunder and Lightning” Tee for $15. Purchases support both the artists and organization.

The gallery is the ArtPrize 7 venue for the collective’s ‘Up-close and personal,’ titled entry.  Each of the 14 artists chose to recreate a moment in their lives that represents a personal highlight or hardship endured.

Heartside Gallery and Studio is located at 48 S. Division and open 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
