As Grand Rapids Community College nears the end of the fall semester, a screening committee is in the process of interviewing for a new Director of Student Life and Conduct.

The committee is made up of staffers from the college’s Student Affairs, Student Life and Conduct, Arts and Sciences, Counseling and Career Center, General Counsel and Human Resources departments.

“The process is going well so far,” said Eric Mullen, associate dean of enrollment management and financial aid.

The search has been narrowed down to four candidates, one of which came to campus last week for a private meet and greet with GRCC student leaders and staff. Mullen said there was positive feedback from last week’s meet and greet and the next three will be held through the end of this week.

“We’re hopeful out of these four there will be candidates we’d like to make an offer to,” Mullen said.

Of the candidates in the running, Mullen said the committee is looking for someone who has experience in leadership management, student program development and understanding of the community college environment.

Mullen said he is hopeful the committee will make an offer before the end of the calendar year.
