Gilda’s Laughfest is looking for volunteers. This year’s LaughFest, scheduled from March 9-19,will include more than 200 free and ticketed shows featuring over 100 artists at more than 40 venues from Grand Rapids and Lowell during the 10-day event.
LaughFest is an event where individuals celebrate laughter for the health of it and bring together the community to support Gilda’s Club of Grand Rapids through shows, events, and family friendly activities.
A good reason why people should consider volunteering for Laughfest is to get involved and give back to Gilda’s Club of Grand Rapids. They offer a free emotional health support community for children, adults, families and friends on any kind of cancer journey or those grieving a death due to any cause. Between 800 and 1,000 people volunteered during last year’s Laughfest event.“I volunteer because I’m passionate (about) what Gilda’s Club offers members on their cancer or grief journey,” said Leslee Hardebeck, a long-time volunteer.
“I love working with so many wonderful volunteers and I love to laugh, which there is plenty of during Laughfest. The venues are fun and the artists are even more fun. It’s gratifying knowing the money raised during Laughfest supports the Gilda’s Club programs that are no cost to members.”
Anyone who is looking to be a volunteer for Laughfest can sign up on their website. Volunteer spots are available through mid-February. Those who choose to volunteer can benefit by being able to make connections, give back, support Gilda’s Club of Grand Rapids, and receive a volunteer LaughFest t-shirt.
