Grand Rapids Community College offers a variety of student support programs, one of these includes the First Scholars program.
The First Scholars program is an incentive program that will guide students who are going full time – taking 12 or more credit hours – toward success. This program helps you apply for scholarship money and prize raffles and gets “new” students on the road to success. The purpose of this program is to help students invest more time into their educational career paths and prepare students for a successful future.
This program is run by a points system which awards students points for academic success. These points can then be turned into prizes such as free bus passes or parking passes.
If interested in the first scholars’ program as an incoming freshman, students are encouraged to enroll full time right off the bat so they will be with the program all throughout their academic career at GRCC. A very important part of the program are the scholarships that are raffled off at the of each semester. Scholarship awards include five $500, six $250, and 10 $100 scholarship prize raffles for participating students.
