While 2019’s Major League Baseball season has already started, the West Michigan Whitecaps, the Detroit Tigers minor league affiliate, will be returning for their 26th season this week.
The Whitecaps will open their season on the road against the South Bend Cubs on Thursday, April 4, and fans can catch the home opener with the Cubs this Saturday, April 6 at 4 p.m. at Fifth Third Ballpark. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a winter hat showcasing one of the teams mascots, Franky the Swimming Pig.
Although tickets for the Opening Day Bash, which includes a seat in the Pepsi Stadium Club and access to an all-you-can-eat barbecue, are sold out, there are still regular tickets for sale online or at the Whitecaps’ box office.
Ticket prices range from $9 to $17, making Whitecaps baseball an affordable event available all summer long. College students can show their IDs at every Thursday home game and receive reserved seat tickets for $5.
Special events will be occurring for the remainder of the season, consisting of days such as Harry Potter Night, Tribute to the Negro Leagues and U of M/MSU Rivalry Night. Discounted promotions will be running as well, including $2 beers and $2 hot dogs on Thursdays, $1 ticket days and the famous dime dog Tuesdays. A full list of events and promotions is available here.
