Jamie Miller – 4:31 a.m.
Greetings Nightlighters, it is I, “the dauphin of the dark” Jamie Miller here to, you guessed it, bring you another issue of Night Light. Well as you may or may not know, Ruby Rose who played Katy Kane, aka the titular Batwoman, in the “Batwoman” TV show has stepped away from the role after the first season. But as they say the show must go on, and go on it shall. They have cast an actress to take over the mantle of Batwoman.
However, this doesn’t mean what you probably think it does. Now if you recall, many moons ago, I did a story about shows to stream, one of which was “Batwoman.” So if you seek to know more about the plot of the show, click the link above. Anyway, the show finished its first season a few months ago, and a bit after that it took a huge blow. Rose announced she was stepping away from the role due to not liking the long hours. And thus a giant question was formed. What now? Do they recast Rose’s role? Do they kill off her character? Well the question has been partially answered.
Javicia Leslie has been cast in the role of Ryan Wilder, who will apparently take up the mantle of Batwoman. Leslie, who played the role of Ali Finer on “God Friended Me,” is also of the LGBTQ community much like Rose and both of their characters.
Per the official description on the DC comics website, Wilder is far different than Kane, described as a girl who would steal milk for an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands. This character promises to be interesting. However whether or not this is the case remains to be seen… I recommend staying tuned.
