Student Life creating opportunities for students to get involved

COVID-19 has pulled many of us away from the in-person college environment that we are used to. Grand Rapids Community College’s Student Life is a perfect opportunity to feel more in touch with our college campus and other students.

GRCC currently has about 20 active groups for students to join and take part in. Lina Blair, the Director of Student Life and Conduct, encourages students to join.

“Anyone is welcome to attend any student organization,” said Blair. “If there are any students who are interested in helping us figure out how to get creative and get more students engaged, we want to help out.”

While being on campus isn’t the same as it was pre-Covid, joining student organizations is a good way to distract and uplift students from the work and stress that comes with online classes. This way, students aren’t going through the struggles of this pandemic alone, they have a community to work and share with.

Student life has also put together an opportunity for students to see the city. This program is called Go See GR! This program allows current students and employees to use their RaiderCard to experience the Grand Rapids museums and John Ball Zoo. The cost of these visits are sponsored by the Campus Activity Fee.
