Grand Rapids Community College Campus Activity Board will present the 2021 Fall Welcome Week Tues., Sept. 7 through Thurs., Sept. 9.

“Welcome week is intended to encourage students to get curious about campus, to get to know other students, and to learn about opportunities to get involved outside of the classroom,” said the GRCC Student Life Facebook page.

Tuesday’s events will consist of a Student Life open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. offering students a chance to get information about campus-related: services including counseling, academic advising, student organizations and clubs, tips on parking and transportation and more. Come out to chat with peers and faculty about the many perks GRCC has to offer while enjoying free food, giveaways, and shaved flavored ice by Kona Ice Food Truck.

Involvement Day and a virtual scavenger hunt are scheduled for Wednesday. Students will have the opportunity to get connected with student organizations at GRCC during the Involvement Day event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Juan R. Olivarez Student Plaza. The virtual scavenger hunt will begin at 6 p.m. and can be livestreamed on the campus activity board’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

“This year, CAB is inviting students back to campus to take part in events to get to know the campus community and to learn about student organizations and other ways to make the most of the college experience at GRCC,” continued the GRCC Student Life Facebook page.

An outdoor movie night will be the final day of the welcome week activities. Students can enjoy a free showing of Disney’s “Soul” Thurs., Sept. 7. Free snacks and giveaways will be provided as attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. The showing will begin at 8 p.m. in the Juan R. Olivarez Student Plaza.

Students are encouraged to RSVP for the three-day events beforehand.
