Grand Rapids Community College is hosting GRADfest today (March 29) at the Main Campus and Wednesday, (March 30) at the Lakeshore Campus to get students prepped for graduation. It is a one-stop event where students can take the time to make sure they have everything in order before the commencement ceremony on April 29.
The event will take place on Main Campus between 3 to 6 p.m. today at Juan Olivarez Plaza and at the Lakeshore Campus from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Room 121.
GRADfest will offer students an opportunity to purchase their cap, gown, and tassel. The cost will be $31 + tax. Cash, check, credit card, and RaiderCards will be accepted at the Main campus. RaiderCards will be the only payment accepted at the Lakeshore campus. Students in Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) can purchase their key medallion for $25 (members only).
Students will receive their commencement ceremony tickets and each graduate can receive up to five tickets. Information will also be provided at the event for purchasing graduation accessories, class rings from Jostens, and financial aid options for repayment or transfer. There will also be snacks and refreshments for students to enjoy at the event.
A free gift will be offered from GRCC Alumni Relations: a commemorative “Stole of Appreciation.” This stole is to be worn with your cap and gown at the commencement ceremony and then given to someone who has helped you succeed in your educational journey.
“GRADfest in many ways is a celebration of itself, with photos and cheers,” said GRCC’s Communicaton’s Director Dave Murray. “This year (it) is being held outside on the Juan Olivarez Student Plaza and promises to be festive.”.
If students plan on attending GRADfest at the Lakeshore Campus, you will need to RSVP ahead of time here.
Students who cannot attend GRADfest but plan on participating in the commencement, will need to visit the Student Life Office after March 29 to get everything they need for commencement.
