Grand Rapids Community College’s Music Department is set to put on the Sophomore Piano Recital featuring Madilyne Barbick and Jonah Walters, who are both pianists scheduled to perform at the GRCC Albert P. Smith Music Center at the Linn Maxwell Keller Recital Hall (Room 200) at 7 p.m. on April 1. The admission for the recital will be free for everyone attending.
Music Department Director Kevin Dobreff said he is excited for the recitals to showcase the students’ progress in the past year.
“The students and instructors work so hard to get to this point,” Dobreff stated in a press release. “We’re celebrating their musical journey, and also showing our greater community the quality of our programs and our people.”
This piano recital will showcase pieces where both Walters and Barbrick can display their talented abilities together as pianists.
Walters is fond of the school, and its music department specifically. “I’ve really enjoyed the warm learning environment that GRCC has and the friendliness that radiates from the music building, especially,” Walters stated.
Barbick is an experienced pianist who hopes to share her passion with students as well. “I’ve played the piano for 13 years now, and my dream is to be a music educator myself one day,” Barbick stated.
