Recent events have given many people a reason to protest. Here are a few things to keep in mind in order to do so safely.
On April 18, 2022, Grand Rapids Community College hosted a Real Talk Series about racial issues in response to the police shooting of Patrick Lyoya. This series was organized by GRCC’s Black Africana Student Union, Hispanic Student Organization, Student Life, Counseling and Career Development, and the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
One of these events was “Know your rights / protesting safely” and was hosted by Kareem Scales and Ja’Von Fields of the NAACP’s Greater Grand Rapids chapter.
