On Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the GRCC Student Life and Conduct Office is hosting a blood drive with help from Versiti. The blood drive will be held at GRCC’s Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology Center, in rooms 122 and 124. You can RSVP before the blood drive, but walk-ins are welcome as well.
The company GRCC has partnered with to make this possible, Versiti, is a nonprofit organization that prides itself as a “fusion of donors, scientific curiosity, and precision medicine that recognize the gifts of blood and life are precious” according to their website.
Versiti supplies blood products to more than 40 hospitals in the state. Student Life has been very supportive of Versiti’s work according to Assistant Director of Student Life Ashley Fox.
Drawing blood is quick and easy if you meet all the requirements, only taking about 10 minutes to finish up. Fox said this makes it a good, fast way to give back to the community.
“We recognize the importance of these donations and want to do our part in providing a space for our community to provide life saving resources,” Fox said.
If you are interested in RSVPing for the upcoming blood drive, you can do so here. If you can’t make it to this blood drive, there’s another blood drive scheduled for Nov. 16, in the same place, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and four are held per year. You can also donate blood at any of the Versiti Blood centers, which you can find here.
