Grand Rapids Community College is hosting the MACRAO College and Transfer Fair on Thursday Oct. 13, at the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse,
About 66 colleges and universities, including a “majority from within the state of Michigan” and several from outside the state will be there according to Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment, Fransciso Ramirez. In addition, representatives of the U.S. Navy will be there to have conversations with students.
There will be three different events throughout the day. From 9 a.m.- 11 a.m. a college fair will be set up for high school students throughout the region.
“We have about 20 high schools that will be present,” Ramirez said. “They are bringing over 1,100 students on our campus.”
From 1 p.m.- 3 p.m. a transfer fair will be held exclusively for GRCC students to attend and learn more about possible transfer schools. Representatives of the participating schools will be available to talk to students about scholarship opportunities and the programs each institution offers.
Then from 6 p.m. -7:30 p.m., there will be a combination of the College and Transfer events. As this fair was exclusively planned by GRCC and sanctioned by Michigan Association for College Admission Counseling (MACAC) and Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers. This is a great opportunity for many community members and GRCC students to learn more about education beyond graduating from GRCC.
