On Feb. 28, Grand Rapids Community College Police sent out two alerts informing students of two different crimes that had taken place near campus.
At 9:11 a.m, GRCC Police sent an alert informing students that a vehicle was stolen from Sneden Hall. The incident occurred at around 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 27 when a student had left her keys in a restroom and later discovered her vehicle was stolen.
The suspects were described as two black females, one wearing a pink coat, pink Croc-like shoes, and a black backpack. The other was wearing purple pants, a black hoodie, and a purple backpack.
Another alert was sent out to students at 7:53 p.m. stating there was an attempted sexual assault occurred near the Grand Rapids Public Library, located at 111 Library St. NE at around 5:45 p.m.
The alert described the interaction stating, “A subject attempted to grab a 16-year old female by the crotch area. The victim was able to turn away and called police immediately. The suspect then left the area on foot.”
The victim was able to escape and called the Grand Rapids Police Department. The GRPD notified the GRCC Police of this incident, prompting them to send out a GRCC alert to students.
The suspect was described as a light-skinned black male, approximately 5-foot, 7-inches, between 20 and 40 years old, wearing a black aviator hat, black and white fall jacket, with no visible hair. Police said neither the suspect or victim are associated with GRCC.
