On Thursday, April 12, the Grand Rapids Community College Student Government had their bi-weekly town hall meeting where they discussed many topics including mental health, establishing a stronger connection with student clubs, and expanding on food options.

Alex Miranda, president of Student Government, brought up the idea of possibly expanding on food options after a student came forward to present their ideas.

“They reached out to us… they wanted more cultural foods available on campus,” Miranda said. “We all agree that is a good idea, we just don’t know how to go with that process.”

Student leaders also touched on building stronger relationships with clubs and the student body. Their mission over the summer is to get more student interaction with town hall meetings and getting clubs more involved with what they are doing.

The meeting then moved onto mental health where they discussed how the Student Government can advocate for more counselors on campus.

The next meeting will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at the multi-purpose room in the Student Center.
