The Grand Rapids Community College women’s volleyball team continued to host their Raider Challenge at the Ford Fieldhouse on Oct. 1 and were able to defeat both Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Oakland Community College in 3-0 wins.
GRCC took on Kalamazoo first, winning all three sets (25-8, 25-21, 25-19). The Raiders were able to dominate the first set, but their opponent was looking to bounce-back from that loss and made it a close battle in both sets before finally going down.
It was the same story with Oakland Community College as GRCC won all three sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-20) with the Raiders dominating the first one, while the next two were close, but again they came together as a team to pull out the win and leave the fieldhouse with both victories in hand.
Overall in both games, the Raiders had 93 kills, with GRCC freshman Lizzie MacIntosh leading in both games with 10 and 14 kills.
That’s 14 in a row for GRCC, with their last defeat happening on Aug. 23, giving the Raiders a 16-3 record and 6-0 conference record.
The Raiders look to make it 15 wins in a row when they take on Delta College at the Ford Fieldhouse on Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m.
