Weeks after Grand Rapids Community College President Charles Lepper announced that Vice President of Advancement Mary Slafkosky had left the college during his Dec. 6 town hall meeting, The Collegiate has learned through a Freedom of Information request that Slafkosky was forced out.

“Hopefully you all received earlier today a message from me,” Lepper told those who attended the Dec. 6  town hall meeting. “Erin Van Egmond is going to be serving as the Interim Vice President for College Advancement, effective immediately. Mary Slafkosky departed from the college…”

Lepper sent a letter to Slafkosky, notifying her that she was put on paid administrative leave on Nov. 30. The letter stated that the decision was effective immediately.

“Dear Ms. Slafkosky, This Letter will serve to provide you notice that Grand Rapids Community College is exercising its right to terminate your employment agreement with the College upon sixty (60) days’ written notice. Your employment agreement will consequently terminate on January 29, 2024,” Lepper wrote in his letter to Slafkosky.

According to Slafkosky’s separation agreement with GRCC, her contract will end on Jan. 29 and she will receive $33,750, representing three months of her base salary.
