
On Monday, Jan. 22, the Grand Rapids Community College men’s basketball team fell to now 16-2 Bay College at the Bay College Gymnasium in Escanaba.
In the first half, the Norse started the game on an 8-2 scoring run after a dunk by BC freshman wing Baril Mawo.
The Norse maintained the lead for most of the quarter until GRCC freshman guard Jack Agema made a 3-pointer to give the Raiders a 25-23 lead.
The Norse retook the lead after BC freshman forward Cade LaFavor made a layup and ended the first half leading 45-34.
In the second half, the Norse took their largest lead, 72-50, after Mawo made a dunk, this being after they went on a 22-2 run with 11:05 left in the game.
The Norse never trailed the entire second half and took the win by 10, ending the half on 44-43 run.
The Norse ended up winning 88-78.
In the first half, GRCC sophomore forward Alex Ehnis led the team with nine rebounds, and sophomore guard Tristan McRoberts led the team with seven points.
In the second half, GRCC sophomore guard Darrell Belcher led the team with four rebounds and two assists, and sophomore guard Jovante Jones led the team with 14 points.
Next up, now 8-10 GRCC will return home to take on Muskegon Community College on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ford Fieldhouse.
