Grand Rapids Community College has had a hectic first two weeks during this Winter Semester with Lyon Street being closed and inclement weather delaying or canceling events around the campus.

One event that was unaffected by the weather was Free Food Day at the Raider Grille during which  both breakfast and lunch were provided along with cups of water and lemonade.

On Wednesday, Jan. 17, Campus Activities Board (CAB) is hosting Involvement Day from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. This event involves campus and community organizations recruiting members while showcasing what they have to offer to the greater student community. This event is great if you’re looking to join a club, get more involved at GRCC, or want a greater experience at GRCC. The event will be held at the Applied Technology Center (ATC) in rooms 118 and 120. The Collegiate plans on having a booth at this event.

Student Life and Conduct is hosting a welcome back event on Thursday, Jan. 18 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Student Life Hub on the first floor. The Winter Wonderland Welcome Back Party and Lunch involves free barbecue food along with free craft activities.

CAB is hosting another event this week, which is the CAB general meeting on Thursday, Jan. 18 from 2-3 p.m. The meeting will be at the Raider Grille and any students are welcome to attend.

Thursday, Jan.18, GRCC Players presents “Macb!tches,” a play based around a group of acting majors and a form of betrayal. The hour-long play starts Thursday and ends Saturday, Jan. 20. It’s located at Spectrum Theater Room 201 on Fountain St.

Another short event that will be held at the Lakeshore Campus is Air Plants and Coloring. This event runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. On Thursday, Jan. 18, students will be able to use their air plants and color them thoroughly.

The University of Michigan Transfer Bridges is hosting an event on Thursday, Jan. 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Raleigh J. Finklestein (RJF) building in Room 210. This event is for students that are preparing to apply to Michigan and they will get advice, feedback on essays, and instructions of what to do in their applications. The deadline to apply is Feb.1.

The GRCC Music Department, with the help of the GRCC Communications Department, will host Folias Duo, which is a part of the GRCC International Guitar Series. It will be held at Albert P. Smith Music Center –  Linn Maxwell Recital Hall from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission for Adults is $15 while admission for seniors, students, and veterans costs $10.
