The Democrats at GRCC will be hosting their fourth general meeting on Monday, Jan. 15 from 3 to 4:15 p.m. The meeting will be held in Room 215 at the Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall with State Rep. Kristian Grant, (D-Grand Rapids) who currently represents Michigan’s 82nd House District in Michigan State House, being the guest speaker.
Grant is a Grand Rapids native with over a decade of experience creating effective solutions to pressing community issues surrounding education, urban development and supporting the growth of the local economy through real estate investment, engagement of community leaders, businesses and residents.
Grant supports the whole city but has a particular interest in taking care of her hometown of southeast Grand Rapids. She serves on many city boards including the trustee on the Grand Rapids Public Schools Board of Education and helps make policies to ensure her hometown is not overlooked. Grant also buys properties to promote Black businesses and home ownership. She also is currently the Chair of the Economic Development and Small Business subcommittee on Housing in the Michigan State House.
The Collegiate reached out to the Democrats of GRCC via email but they could not be reached.
It is expected that the club will discuss some of these subjects: climate justice, gun violence prevention, as well as diversity, equality and inclusion for all.
